park and rides |
Since Roman times , York has been at the hub of
the nation's communications. In fact, it was the quality of communications that
led the Romans to choose the site for their northern capital.
Direct travel to York by rail by high speed train
from anywhere in the country is speedy and convenient.
By road, via
the A1/M1 link , the national network of motorways come within 12 miles
of York.
There are direct high speed rail links to
Manchester airport, and Robin Hood Airport (Doncaster/Sheffield), and Teeside,
Leeds and Hull airports are less than an hour's drive, and there are convenient
bus and taxi links. When coming by taxi make sure the driver is aware that
Acomb Grange is off the part of Grange Lane INSIDE the outer ring road. This is because Grange Farm which is
not connected with Acomb Grange and is outside the ring road often confuses
taxi drivers.
Travel by inland waterway is also possible along
the rivers Humber, Trent, Derwent or Ure to the River Ouse.
WE WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE SAT
NAV, AS MOST OF THE MAPS ARE INCORRECT AND SHOW NONE EXISTENT ROADS, AND YOU
MAY END UP IN A FIELD. FOLLOW THE WRITTEN DIRECTIONS BELOW.
